A coin that´s seen two Wold Wars an a century of history

The famous French Gold Rooster

Thank the smart guy who first jeered the Gauls with "gallus" - the latin word for rooster.
Because that early trash-talking enemy´s clevermedieval insult actualli became centuries-old symbol of France´s revolutionary fighting spirit -and a magnificent legal tender gold coin respected and treasured the world over!

Struck between 1899 and 1914, it's one of the most beautiful gold coins ever minted. The Gold Rooster shows France's version of Miss Liberty on one side and the famous French crowing rooster on the other. Most were later melted to help pay for the I World War - and those remaining   played a role in the II World War as well.

A Royal Canadian Mint first! Limited Edition coin features a niobium metal inset with unique coloring that reflects the theme of the coin.
Highlights:
By undertaking the technical complexities of producing a niobium coin, these Royal Canadian Mint “firsts” set the bar high for unmatched colour and lustre. The niobium core was selectively oxidized to create a unique finish—no two coins are exactly alike!

Coin design:
An Algonquin hunter crouches by the light of a full moon, ready and waiting for his quarry to appear while rustcoloured hues selectively applied to the niobium core enhance this coin’s autumn theme.

Packaging:
Coin is encapsulated and presented in a wooden flip case, lined with flock and protected by a black sleeve.

Timekeeper for the Algonquin people.
In North America, the First Nations tribes that comprise the Algonquin people looked to the moon to track time. They assigned a name to every full moon to reflect the seasonal activities that accompanied each cycle. Theirs was a vast territory that extended from Lake Superior to the eastern seaboard, resulting in a variety of names throughout the Algonquin community. The buck, hunter, wolf and pink full moons represent summer, autumn, winter and spring.

9/11 a day we well never forget!!

On the bright, sunny morning of September 11, 2001, more than $200 million in gold and silver was locked in the underground vaults of the COMEX Banking System — far below the gleaming Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

Like the many New Yorkers starting their workday, that fortune in silver bars and U.S. gold and silver coins was seemingly safe and secure. But as the tragic day unfolded, New Yorkers — and the entire world — were reminded that our safety is a fragile thing. As the dust settled over the site of the collapsed towers, 11.8 tons of gold and 935.7 tons of silver lay buried under a mountain of shattered concrete and twisted steel.

The treasure survived the devastation — but very little was ever made available to the general public. Now, on the tenth anniversary of that tragic day, you can own a piece of 21st century history: an actual 2001 $1 Silver Eagle recovered from the World Trade Center vaults.

Authenticated and certified as a genuine artifact from the 9/11 disaster by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), each of these recovered 2001 Silver Eagles has been graded Gem Uncirculated and encapsulated with a special WTC label.

Like the attack on Pearl Harbor more than half a century earlier, September 11, 2001 is a day that is burned into the collective soul of our nation. But as the years pass, authentic coins from the World Trade Center's vaults are becoming more and more scarce — and only a handful of these genuine WTC Silver Eagles are available. Secure yours now — as a touchstone to a day we can never forget.

San Francisco's Secret Silver Dollar

The San Francisco Mint struck millions of Morgan Silver Dollars between 1878 and 1904. But they made a secret Silver Dollar in 1903 that even back then folks in the U.S. didn't know about. Remember, USA governed the Philippines at the time, and the secret Silver Dollar is this 1903—S Philippine Peso. It's about the size of the Morgan, and it's struck in the same 90% silver. The Silver Dollar also shows the famous "S" mintmark.

A small hoard (340 pieces) was counterstamped in 1967 as Anguilla "Liberty Dollars".
